Internationally recognised Australian songwriter, composer and recording artist Elizabeth Riordan is turning one of the most painful labels from her childhood into a powerful message of resilience with the release of her new album, No Prospects.
During her high school years, "No Prospects" was the nickname classmates gave Elizabeth - a cruel prediction that she would never amount to anything. Rather than allowing those words to define her, Elizabeth has reclaimed them, transforming a symbol of rejection into a celebration of perseverance, creativity and believing in yourself.
Written during a songwriting residency in Atlanta, Georgia, No Prospects explores themes of identity, resilience, hope and self-worth. Through honest lyricism and memorable melodies, the album reflects the journey of learning to silence self-doubt, embrace authenticity and create your own definition of success.
Elizabeth's career stands in stark contrast to the prediction made all those years ago. Today, she is an internationally recognised Australian songwriter whose music has been featured in film, television, Netflix productions and major video games. In 2026, Elizabeth was welcomed as a Voting Member of the Recording Academy (GRAMMY® Awards), recognising her contribution to the global music community.

Believe in Me - Pop Vocal Performance
Co-written with Jeremy Brown, “Believe in Me” by Elizabeth Riordan is an uplifting and heartfelt song about self-belief, resilience, and finding the strength to keep moving forward.
While on a writing trip in Atlanta, Elizabeth found herself struggling with imposter syndrome, questioning whether she truly belonged in the rooms she was entering and finding it hard to believe she was working alongside the people she admired. “Believe in Me” emerged as a kind of mantra to herself - a reminder to trust her own abilities, embrace the opportunities in front of her, and find the confidence to believe in herself.
Focus - Pop Vocal Performance
“Focus” is a catchy pop song about capturing the attention of someone you’re attracted to and making them take notice. Written in Atlanta with Bobsled Jimmy and HerothaProducer, Elizabeth challenged herself to step outside her usual writing style and create a fun, upbeat pop track with a playful energy.
Thoughts on Paper - Pop Duo Performance
Performed with Melbourne singer-songwriter Ido Sagir, “Thoughts on Paper” is a heartfelt reflection on long-term love and the importance of reconnecting with the feelings that brought two people together in the beginning. The song captures nostalgia of that initial feeling of a new relationship, encouraging us to find our way back to that, cherish the connection we share, and hold on to the love that brought us together.
Discoveries (Live in Studio) - Traditional Pop Performance
When I was 21, I lost my best friend to cancer. It was a profoundly significant time in my life, and I spent a lot of time trying to understand and process that loss. Much of that healing took place at my piano, where I found a way to express emotions I couldn’t always put into words.
“Discoveries” was written about that period of my life. The line, “I discovered that sand between my toes can hold my pain,” comes from one of my favourite memories of being together by the beach and the water. This song holds a very special place in my heart, and I hope you can feel the emotion, love and connection within it.
